Olivia's Style - My Blog
Check out what I've been up to in my busy, crazy, silly, funny, peppy, jazzy life! Find out what I like to do and read about my life as an actress and a giver.
I know what you're thinking. Stamera is not a real word. But in my world Stamera means stage and camera acting. You need training for both, but they are different ways of acting. Camera acting has to be believable and your actions and movements have to be small to stay in frame. On camera, the set is an actual place - a restaurant, a house or a school - and with all the equipment and crew it can be a little cramped. When you are acting on stage you should use the entire stage. So big actions are important, but it still has to be believable. I have been working on all these things for a play I will be in this Christmas. On stage you have to face the audience, so where you stand and how you talk to the other actors sometimes feels a little weird. When I do both types of acting I use my face, my body, my eyes and my voice to make the scene believable. Here are a few shots of me doing both stage and camera acting. Now that's what I call STAMERA!

This week I filmed a video in my first leading role. I was very excited. The story took place in a magical world where everything was made of cookies. Instead of being on a big set with all the cookies, I had to pretend that all the scenery was there by acting in front of a green screen. When the scene was something that would happen in real life, it was pretty easy to act out. But sometimes, the scene was in a place that wouldn't be possible to happen in real life. That was much harder to imagine. If it was really hard to imagine, the director would give me a hint on how to deliver the scene - that helped alot! We worked for two whole days, but we got plenty of breaks. Everyone was very encouraging, and my acting coach even stopped by to see how I was doing. And the best part is, my drawings of the cookies might get added into the video! When production is finished I'll post the video so you can see the green screen magic at work. The first thing you learn in acting is how to slate. Slating is the way you introduce yourself as an actor. This is my slate video. It introduces ME. You will learn what type actor I am, what age roles I can play and there's a little something special at the end. Enjoy! One part of modeling and acting I really love is photo shoots. It gives me a chance to really show my style. Sometimes I can be fun. Sometimes I can be serious. I really like to do silly pictures to show the silly side of my personality. Smiley pictures show the friendly side of my personality. I am still working on my best non-smiley faces for photo shoots, but I know I'll get it soon. Check out my portfolio page to see more pictures of me having photo shoot fun!
This is our serious face, because we mean business!
This weekend I got the experience of being an extra in a film. It was really hard work. We changed our wardrobe over and over again - sometimes right away! We had to sit outside in the hot sun waiting for our scenes, because there wasn't enough room on set for us to wait. We waited all day to shoot our scenes. But, I got to shoot with one of my friends from acting class, so that made it better. AND my mom even did the shoot with me, and she's not even an actress! Making movies is hard work, but it's worth it! And now I know, being an extra, is EXTRA hard work. That's me on the left and Gabby on the right. Don't I look like her? This week I auditioned for a role to play her in a movie about her life. Getting that role would be awesome! My little sister started taking gymnastics after we saw Gabby win the gold medal in the 2012 Olympics. I take ballet and have been dancing since I was five. What do you think? Would I make a good Gabby? |
